Omaha Performing Arts is pleased to announce today that it has been awarded an arts learning grant of $8,083 by the Nebraska Arts Council. This grant will support the third year of the Nebraska High School Theatre Awards program.

Nebraska Arts Council’s Executive Director, 苏珊娜明智, commended Omaha Performing Arts for its educational programs, noting that “Omaha Performing Arts does an outstanding job of providing arts activities in the community. It is through fine organizations like this that Nebraska’s children receive a better education in the arts, and the quality of life is improved for all Nebraskans.” The Nebraska Arts Council grants monetary resources to Nebraska’s nonprofit organizations for arts projects and programs in communities throughout the state. This financial support is made possible by funds appropriated by the Nebraska Legislature, through competitive grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), 联邦机构, and funds from the Nebraska Cultural Endowment (NCE). The Nebraska High School Theatre Awards program is designed to celebrate, support and advocate for high school musical theater education in Nebraska. Culminating in an annual Tony Awards®-inspired showcase, the Nebraska High School Theatre Awards offers schools feedback on their musicals from a qualified team of adjudicators, master classes led by Broadway professionals, tickets to Broadway touring shows when available, performance and audition experiences, opportunities to participate in the National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York, 和更多的. In 2013-14, the program launched in the Omaha-metro with 22 participating high schools. Now in its third year, with 51 schools participating, the program will reach students from 17 different counties and 24 different cities, 包括奥马哈, 林肯, 大岛屿, Norfolk and surrounding Greater Nebraska communities. Over the next few years, Omaha Performing Arts plans to continue expanding the program to serve high schools across the state.
